The Competition has been running since 1998 and has featured several young musicians who have made music their career. For example, pianist James Willshire formerly from Culcheth has just won an award from Making Music that will provide him with bookings for solo recitals throughout the country.
Flautist Laura Lucas from Appleton has just won the solo Wind Finals of one of this country’s most prestigious competitions and will compete for the overall 1st Prize and Gold Medal worth £5000 (together with major publicity) on 19th May. The 2006 winner, Paul Duffy, is already the Principal Soprano Cornet Player with Black Dyke Band.

The Warrington Competition for Young Musicians 2010
will again take place at Arley Hall.
The competition is open to musicians under the age of 19 on 1st April 2010
and resident in the WA, CH, CW, L or BL postcode areas.
